Unbeknownst to young Leonardo, a dark and mysterious entity has been watching him carefully, waiting for the opportune moment to take him away from his life of abuse and mistreatment. Boris is a reckless, seductive vampire who sees great promise in Leonardo, so one night in the woods, he takes his life-but gives him another. Boris teaches him the immortal ways through the Vampyr Law. However, as a newborn vampire, Leonardo fights a battle between his mortal past and immortal future. He must choose to embrace the darkness or fight against those who came before, while still seeking vengeance for his family’s massacre and even becoming a killer himself.

As a young boy, Leonardo seemed to always have such a strained and resentful relationship with his father. No matter how hard he tried to please him, his father never acknowledged it to be good enough, thus leaving Leonardo to feel cold and embittered feelings towards the man. But his sweet and loving mother always cared so much for Leonardo and knew his emotional needs as well. Knowing the times he needed space were the times his father would hurt him. Leonardo loved and adored his sister and they always had a close bond.
One night, after one of the worst ever belittlement's from his father in which Leonardo has ever endured, he retreated despite his sister’s pleads and concern if he was ok. Mother, always knowing her son, even if he wasn’t her biological, knew he needed his time and space. The next day Leonardo woke up to an eerie and dreadful feeling that something very bad had happened at his home. To his absolute horror, Leonardo finds his mother and father severely massacred and his siblings missing, nowhere to be found. Devastated and frightened, bewilderment consumes Leonardo as he flees from his only home to survive in the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on his back. After what seems like forever, Leonardo can no longer withstand the cruel frozen weather and finds retreat at a Slave Trade, and because of his youth, gets sold right away.
Leonardo is sold to an evil and heartless man that had a beautiful property but never really appreciated it. He owned many slaves and treated them poorly. Beating them sometimes to death or shooting them in the head. He had no mercy. Leonardo had a deep desire to get revenge on whoever killed his family, but the feeling started to fade the longer he worked as a slave. Always with the feeling of something from the dark watching him, Leonardo meets a strange man that he deems untrustworthy and bad. The man is determined to interact with Leonardo and in a quickness the cryptic man has taken over Leonardo and turns him into something that is not from the human world. A creature that can only survive off the blood of the mortal, a vampire. Now, more than ever, Leonardo is faced with inner battles and difficult choices.
